Event Hosts

Interested in hosting an event during the 2026 New Zealand International Science Festival? Read on!

The 2026 Science Festival will run during the first week of the July school holidays - confirmed dates coming soon! During the Festival, there will be a range of events of all shapes and sizes across Ōtepoti Dunedin, highlighting an array of science topics. We are currently on the lookout for events for both families and adults in a number of different formats as there are countless ways to engage our audience with the wonders of science.

Anyone can get involved in the science festival! We work with individuals, universities and polytechnics, research institutes, non-profits, scientists, science communicators, venues, artists, teachers, media and more. If you have a good idea or an interesting concept related to science and want to communicate it, this is the place to be.

While there is no overarching festival theme, we will curate a few 'topics for inspiration' for those wanting or needing some direction. Stay tuned for those to be posted soon.

Keen to propose an event idea? Our official callout for events will be released in November 2025 alongside our Call for Ideas document, which outlines just about everything you'll need to know to host an event with us. If you're eager to put your hand up ahead of that date, get in touch with Associate Director Andrea Liberatore: [email protected].
