The 2026 Science Festival will run from 15-19 July, during the second week of the July school holidays. During the Festival, there will be a range of events held across Ōtepoti Dunedin, highlighting an array of science topics.
2026 will be our NanoFest year. NanoFest is our smaller, shorter and more locally-focused festival held in opposite years to our full festival. Our primary focus for NanoFest is creating a vibrant Festival Hub and we are looking for hands-on stall or table-based activities aimed at families to fill that space. We do also have a limited ability to host events and activities outside of the Festival Hub - please get in touch to discuss your ideas.
Anyone can get involved in the science festival! We work with individuals, universities and polytechnics, research institutes, non-profits, scientists, businesses, science communicators, venues, artists, teachers, media and more. If you have a good idea or an interesting concept related to science and want to communicate it, this is the place to be.
Keen to join our Festival Hub or want to propose an event idea? Please email Associate Director Andrea Liberatore: [email protected].
