A panel discussion about combating antibiotic resistance in Aotearoa New Zealand and the wider Pacific, now and in the future.

Accessibility information: The venue has asked us to ask ticket holders to check if anyone has accessibility requirements that require a ramp for access to the venue. They have a ramp and are more than happy to deploy it when required, but just need to ensure they have the right staff rostered on to do so.

So please e-mail [email protected] if you require a ramp, and they’ll ensure everything is ready for you beforehand. They would also like me to pass on that they’re working on a more permanent solution for the future. Thank you for your understanding.

Antimicrobial medicines are vital tools for treating a number of diseases. But it's no secret that some types of bacteria and other microbes that cause disease are developing resistance to these tools. What is being done to combat antimicrobial resistance and what new tools are being developed? Experts in the field will talk about the current state of antimicrobial resistance in Aotearoa New Zealand and the wider Pacific and discuss what the future of this important research may hold.

Panel:
Prof Greg Cook - University of Otago Department of Microbiology & Immunology
Sakiusa Baleivanualala - University of Otago Department of Microbiology & Immunology
Juliet Elvy - Southern Community Laboratories

The adjoining Dish Cafe will be open before and after this event for coffee and drinks. Nibbles will be provided after the talk to encourage the conversation to continue.
