Budding rocket scientists wanted! Build your own rocket, then come and launch it with us on the weekend!
Get ready to blast off! In this hands-on science adventure, budding engineers will design and build their own water-powered bottle rockets.
Along the way, you'll discover the Newtonian physics behind rocket flight – thrust, drag, and trajectory – and find out what separates a good rocket from a great one. No experience needed, just curiosity and a competitive streak.
We are also hosting a big launch event on the weekend – this is your chance to make your rocket ahead of time.
Keen prototypers: We'll provide one rocket kit per guest – if you want to test multiple designs, bring along extra empty 1.5L fizzy bottles or recyclable plastic such as ice cream containers and lids. These make fantastic rockets and fins!
Daring designers: Can you make a rocket as eye-catching as the stars it's shooting for? Bring your creative flair and make yours stand out from the crowd.
Got any spare recyclable plastic at home? 1.5L fizzy bottles, ice cream containers and lids, that sort of thing? Bring them along and give them a new life as rockets and the fins that help keep them on track!
Proudly supported by Engineering New Zealand as part of the Wonder Project, inspiring the next generation of Kiwi scientists and engineers.
