We share photos of Ōtepoti Dunedin all the time, but this time we’re putting a spotlight on the vast variety of sounds all around us
We need your help creating the Sound Capsule. From Ōtepoti icons such as the chime of the University clock tower and the roaring St. Clair surf, to your own local treasures such as cherished places and people – we want to know what sounds of Dunedin are the most meaningful to you!
We are crowd sourcing recordings from individuals and communities all around Ōtepoti Dunedin and invite everyone to participate in creating this audio time capsule asking: What’s your most treasured Ōtepoti Dunedin sound?
Through the Sound Capsule we hope to archive otherwise ephemeral sounds, both to notice and celebrate them now and to be able to appreciate them in the future. The Sound Capsule will give our mokopuna and future Dunedinites an opportunity to experience what the city sounded like in 2025.
Drop by the Festival Hub to explore the sound map. You can also submit a recording through: https://bit.ly/submit-dunedin-sound-capsule-2025
