Short interesting science talks, films and fun demos!
The Otago University Science Academy recruits high-achieving Year 13 students from rural/provincial, small, and formerly lower decile schools across New Zealand and hosts them for two one-week long science camps.
An important part of Science Academy is introducing the students to some basic skills in communicating science to a public audience. Between the two camps, the students research and prepare a short public talk, science film, show or podcast. For most of them this is their first time taking on the daunting challenge of presenting an aspect of science they are passionate about or intrigued by to a public audience.
Come and give them your support as they practise this very important aspect of being a 21st century scientist.
