Sestinas for Science

Write a sestina with a science theme!
Poets have long written about scientific concepts, just as scientists have also been poets. Sestinas are a form of poetry with six stanzas of six lines and one stanza of three lines. The intricate pattern uses a repetition of six words throughout the stanzas, allowing for writers and readers alike to deeply connect to a topic.
Attendees of this workshop will read examples, collaborate, and write individual sestinas, focused on a science topic from astronomy to zoology. Suitable for poets and scientists alike who enjoy a bit of a challenge.
Accessibility: the library has a lift up to the Dunningham Suite (4th floor).
This event was made possible with support from Dunedin UNESCO City of Literature.
