Proving that learning can be fun, the University of Canterbury has been working with schools and kura here in Aotearoa New Zealand to create cool games about our volcanoes. Be a volcano explorer for a day and experience some of these awesome games for yourself!

If you like card games, you will love '5 Minute Volcano', a fast-paced collaborative card game where teams of up to five take on roles to overcome a New Zealand volcano eruption. You and your friends will face challenges with volcanoes like Whakaari White Island, all the way to Taupō itself! Play as a volcano scientist, teacher, kaumātua, and more! Work well together, and you may just win.

If digital games interest you the most, there are mini games where you can pick a character from '5 Minute Volcano' and explore a small New Zealand town. Visit locations to play different games, from an evacuation game, where you need to pack the right items and escape in time, to a build your own volcano game!

If games are not your cup of tea, don’t worry! There are other fun volcano activities, like drawing and colouring your own volcano.

Note: the digital games are still being perfected, but you can look out for them in your school soon!
