HeartOtago is a collaborative research group located at the University of Otago and Dunedin Public Hospital. Founded in 2011, HeartOtago was formed to advance scientific research in cardiovascular disease. The group is comprised of researchers and clinicians dedicated to carrying out research aimed at understanding the molecular nature of cardiovascular disease, using tissue donated from patients undergoing cardiac surgery. HeartOtago strives to expand on traditional research techniques, produce robust research and to translate our findings into future treatment options for heart disease suffers.
