From woven loss to reframing the windscreen phenomenon.
This activity invites participants to recreate a woven artwork responding to the windscreen phenomenon in our life time – the dramatic decline of insect life over the past 50 years – while encouraging us to discover the beauty of critters that often go unnoticed.
Once notably visible on car windscreens after a long journey, insects are in rapid decline due to habitat loss, land-use change, climate disruption, and the use of pesticides and herbicides. Participants will make small beetle forms from coloured paper and collectively create a growing iteration of the woven panels.
Children must be attended by an adult. Minimum age 4 years
Part of the annual ArtScience Exhibition.
