Ruruku: an exhibition by Hauteruruku ki Puketeraki waka club celebrates kaupapa waka with visual storytelling and taoka from Hauteruruku ki Puketeraki, a community and whānau based waka club based in Karitāne.
Named for the community-led Ruruku Project which brought to life the club’s third traditional sailing waka, Kuramātakitaki, the show celebrates waka, raraka, and honoka across Te Waipounamu, Aotearoa and Te Moananui-a-Kiwa, and the revival of waka traditions in the 21st century.

Guided tours - 11am-11.45am, Wed 2 and Sat 5 July (free, booking required)
Workshop - 11am-1pm, Sat 28 June. Make mini waka from traditional and contemporary resources, have a go at making waka taura (four-plait rope), and have your photo taken with Kuramātakitaki waka! (free, booking required)
