Learn about nature and science in the Town Belt at our interactive stall with students from Town Belt Kaitiaki!
Threaded through Dunedin’s city centre, the Dunedin Town Belt is a precious green haven for nature and people. It is also an amazing outdoor classroom resource within one kilometre of about 30 Dunedin schools and early childhood centres.
The student leaders of Town Belt Kaitiaki invite you to visit their student-led stall to learn some cool science facts about the Town Belt. Try your hand at some interactive science-focused activities and games (some that they’ve created) – and meet members of the friendly team. They are excited to share what they have learned this year with you!
About: Town Belt Kaitiaki is a student-led education programme for Dunedin schools and early childhood centres. The purpose of the programme is to help young people grow to value and understand the significance of the Town Belt and its mauri (life force), and learn how to sustain and care for our natural environment as kaitiaki (guardians), empowering them to make a difference in their community right now, as part of their school curriculum.
